How do I prevent my foundation from settling into fine lines and wrinkles?
Asked a year ago
Hey everyone, I've been facing a pesky issue with my foundation lately. No matter how I apply it, it seems to settle into my fine lines and wrinkles, emphasizing them rather than hiding them. It's frustrating! Does anyone have any advice or tricks to prevent this from happening? I'd love to achieve a smoother finish without highlighting those little imperfections. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

For mature skin, I find that there are key factors to keep in mind for each foundation application step that can make or break how your foundation looks.
Skin prep:
If you have fine lines and wrinkles, hydration is your best friend! By having freshly hydrated and moisturized skin, the appearance of fine lines will be minimized, and your foundation will apply more smoothly.
The foundation:
For mature skin, there are certain types of foundations that you should stay away from. For example, a matte foundation will emphasize your wrinkles and fine lines. Instead, opt for a hydrating, pore-perfecting, and luminous foundation.
Application technique:
Whether you use a sponge or a foundation brush to apply your foundation, it is best to press the foundation onto your skin rather than sweep it on. This way, you press the foundation into areas that you wish to smooth over. Also, be sure to set your foundation with powder very lightly to avoid a cakey look!
