What's the best way to mix two foundation shades for a custom match?
Asked a year ago
Hey community! I've recently ended up with two foundation shades — one's a tad too light, and the other's slightly too dark. I've been thinking of mixing them to get a shade that matches my skin perfectly. Has anyone tried this? What's the best way to mix two foundation shades for a custom match? I'd love to hear your tips and tricks to ensure I don't end up wasting product or making a mess. Share your wisdom!

Hi, you’ve had the right idea all along! Mixing foundation shades allows you to achieve a custom foundation match.
There are two ways to mix foundations:
- You can add a small amount of both foundation shades to the back of your hand and mix them with your finger until you’ve gotten your desired shade. Then apply it with your preferred foundation tool. Don’t forget to wipe the rest of the foundation from the back of your hand to prevent staining your clothes!
- You can apply a small amount of both foundations to your skin, I like to start on my jawline. Then blend with your preferred foundation tool and add a very small amount of whichever shade you need more of for a perfect match. This method wastes less product but there is a chance of applying too much to the face.
