How do I prep my skin for smoother foundation application?
Asked a year ago
Hey folks, recently I've noticed that my foundation isn't applying as smoothly as I'd like. It seems to highlight every little texture on my skin. I'm wondering if there's a specific skin prep routine or products I should be using before applying foundation to get that flawless finish. Does anyone else face this and have any recommendations? I'd really appreciate the advice! Thanks in advance.

One way you can improve the texture of your skin for a smoother foundation application is by adding exfoliants to your skincare routine. These are the chemical exfoliants known as AHAs and BHAs. If you have sensitive skin or very dry skin, I’d opt for lactic acid. For oily skin types, salicylic acid will improve the texture of your skin and prevent blemishes.
Vitamin E, or niacinamide, is also great at improving the texture of your skin and can be used daily. But this depends on which other ingredients it has been formulated with.
Another thing you can do is add a hydrating primer to your foundation routine. This will plump your skin and prevent creasing. On the other hand, if you enjoy a more matte finish, a silicone-based primer will help create a smooth base for the foundation.
If you do decide to try my tips, make sure to read the product’s instructions because chemical exfoliants, if used incorrectly, can cause more damage to the skin.
